Arkhelian publishes original human-made fiction, articles, essays, worldbuilding, artwork, games, and other creative material. Unless otherwise stated, content published on this website is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced, republished, distributed, adapted, or commercially used without permission from the applicable copyright holder.
We support discussion, criticism, citation, and legitimate sharing of our work. This page explains what is permitted and when permission is required.
Copyright Ownership
Original content created by Arkhelian or its in-house creators is protected by copyright from the time it is created and fixed in a tangible form.
Copyright notices, publication dates, author credits, and other attribution information identify the applicable rights holder where appropriate.
Copyright registration with the U.S. Copyright Office is not required for copyright protection to exist, although individual works may also be formally registered.
Unless otherwise indicated, no license or transfer of copyright is granted simply because material is publicly accessible through this website.
Linking and Quoting
You are welcome to link directly to pages, articles, fiction, products, and other publicly available content on Arkhelian.com.
Limited quotation of our written material for purposes such as commentary, criticism, discussion, education, journalism, or review is also permitted where legally appropriate.
When quoting Arkhelian content, please:
- Identify the author and/or Arkhelian where applicable.
- Link to the original page when the material is available online.
- Quote only the amount reasonably necessary for the purpose.
- Do not present Arkhelian material as your own work.
- Do not alter quoted material in a way that materially misrepresents its meaning.
Nothing in this policy is intended to restrict rights that may otherwise exist under applicable copyright law, including fair use.
Republishing and Syndication
Reproduction of an Arkhelian article, story, essay, or other substantial piece of content in whole or in substantial part requires prior written permission.
This includes republication on another website, publication platform, newsletter, social network, print publication, database, application, or other distribution system.
Authorized republication or syndication may be subject to conditions including:
- Clear attribution to the original author and Arkhelian.
- A direct link to the original publication.
- Preservation of specified copyright notices.
- Restrictions on editing or modification.
- Search-engine indexing requirements.
- Other licensing terms established when permission is granted.
Where Arkhelian authorizes publication of a substantially duplicated version of an article on another website, Arkhelian may require that the reproduced version be excluded from search-engine indexing. A canonical tag pointing to Arkhelian does not, by itself, constitute permission to reproduce Arkhelian content.
Translations and Adaptations
Translation, adaptation, abridgment, dramatization, serialization, audiovisual adaptation, or other transformation of Arkhelian content requires permission unless otherwise permitted by law.
This applies even when the resulting work appears in another language or format.
Permission to translate or adapt a work does not automatically grant broader publishing, distribution, merchandising, or derivative-work rights unless those rights are expressly included in the applicable agreement.
AI, Scraping, and Dataset Use
Public access to Arkhelian.com does not constitute permission to systematically reproduce, extract, scrape, aggregate, ingest, or redistribute copyrighted Arkhelian content.
Except where permitted by law or expressly authorized in writing, Arkhelian content may not be collected or reproduced for the purpose of creating commercial datasets, content libraries, competing publications, automated republication systems, or substantially similar derivative collections.
Automated access that interferes with the operation, security, availability, or normal use of Arkhelian.com is prohibited.
Requests involving research datasets, machine learning, artificial intelligence systems, archival projects, or other large-scale uses of Arkhelian content should be submitted for permission before use.
Contributor and Third-Party Content
Not everything appearing on Arkhelian.com is necessarily owned by the same copyright holder.
Arkhelian publishes and works with authors, artists, designers, illustrators, and other contributors. In some cases, a contributor retains copyright in their original work while granting Arkhelian specific publishing or licensing rights.
Artwork, fiction, articles, photography, trademarks, excerpts, and other material may therefore carry separate ownership or attribution notices.
Nothing on this page should be interpreted as Arkhelian claiming ownership of intellectual property belonging to a contributor, licensor, or other third party.
Permission to use contributor or third-party material may require authorization directly from the applicable rights holder.
Unauthorized Use and Enforcement
If Arkhelian content is reproduced, republished, distributed, adapted, or otherwise used without authorization, Arkhelian or the applicable rights holder may request that the material be removed or corrected.
Depending on the circumstances, enforcement may include contacting the publisher, website operator, hosting provider, platform, search engine, or other relevant service provider.
Where appropriate, copyright owners may also pursue remedies available under applicable copyright law, including formal copyright complaints or takedown procedures.
Removal, attribution, linking, canonicalization, or other technical changes do not retroactively authorize unauthorized use unless an agreement is reached with the applicable rights holder.
Permissions and Licensing
