A world of pain

The world of MONSTER[S] was born from a forgotten scientific project: Stargazer, designed to create beings capable of surviving in the vacuum of space. But humanity, true to form, turned the discovery into a weapon. Under the supervision of the Caduceus Division, the first subjects—nicknamed the Apex—became the tools of a new age of warfare.

Then came the Big One: total war, the divide between human and post-human.

On that day, the man-made gods ceased to obey. Decades later, only echoes remain. Ruined stations, delusional artificial intelligences, corrupted files. And survivors still searching for the truth about what they’ve become.

Their stories intertwine in the ashes of a world where pain is no longer a weakness,

but a weapon.

The Players

Nyx, the child of lies, the newest experiment

Omega, a fallen soldier inhabited by a defective AI

Alpha, a ghostly figure that can't be erased

Stephen, the broken father, the scarred survivor

Caduceus, the testament, the sovereign machine

Neo-Farcs, the warborn shadows of Suriname

Themes

The characters are constantly rebuilding themselves: by choice, by constraint, or by necessity. Many no longer know who they really are. Some live with an identity that has been imposed on them. Others discover too late that they are not what they were told they were. In this universe, identity is a battlefield.

Caduceus, military programs, governments… each of them manipulates the truth. Retouched files. Altered or erased memories. Propaganda. Intertwined secrets. The “official” version is never the real one, And those who seek the truth almost always end up broken.

There is no weakness in pain, only signal and vocabulary.

it can teach, transform, and shape. its absence can be a silent curse. it can scream until one hears nothing else, and it can be a burden as heavy as words that can’t be taken back. Pain is a constant and truth.

“This world is not futuristic. It is a mirror of our present, in which technology no longer saves, it redefines what it means to suffer.”

//> Sam C. Lacoste is a French author and screenwriter.

His current work, the Monster[S] universe, is the culmination of mechanical mythologies and a civilization in which each character carries a truth too heavy for themselves. Sam explores what pain does to the body, what memory does to the soul, and what remains of humanity when everything has been consumed.

Sam C. Lacoste’s writing offers no solace. he writes with the precision of a surgeon, scalpel in hand, and explores a deep-down refusal born of worldly pressure. his writing is dense, dark, and deeply human. It blends extreme technologies, intimate dramas, and
tales of monsters. sometimes literal, often metaphorical.
